Paintel Ltd were contracted to re-coat the ‘tusks’ (verticals) and ‘whiskers’ (horizontals) of this multi-award winning Grade 2* listed building.

 

Corrosion at the base of the building was category C, which meant that all 37 tusks required an extensive preparatory treatment to an St3 standard.

 

As preparation was complete the coating system included an Aluminium based Epoxy for corrosion protection and a polyurethane top coat. MEWPs (Mobile Elevated Working Platforms) were used during this project to reach the the tops of the tusks and in-between the supporting whiskers.
